Following his freedom from the hands of bandits that abducted him and others in Kaduna State a few weeks ago, Jibril Abdullah has recounted the ordeal he went through in the bandits’ camp.
Jibril Abdullah was one of the 30 victims that were kidnapped by bandits in Unguwar Liman, in Gwada community of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in December last year. He was in the kidnappers’ den for about two months.
During an interview with Daily Trust, Abdullah said that there were 38 men in the kidnappers’ camp, while the women were about 50.
He was then asked if the women were molested by the bandits, and he said no. He said that the bandits’ leaders warned their boys that anyone that abused the women would be killed. He said that the leaders told their boys that if they wanted to meet women, they should go to the brothels outside the forest and meet them.
He said,
“We were 38 men in number. Females were about 50. We were all brought from different villages.”
On whether the women were molested by the bandits, he said, “Not at all; they (bandits’ leaders) warned their people that whoever abused any female victim would be killed.”
He continued,
“They said the women were only brought to the bush to collect ransom from their family members and not to abuse them. Apart from that, we all went through the same suffering.”
