After being told that their chance of conceiving a child was so thin due to infertility issues, the pregnancy felt like a miracle.
The arrival of a baby is an absolute blessing. Not just for the newborn but also for the parents, it’s the beginning of a whole new life. However, infertility issues threaten many families these days. As per CDC, 1 in 5 American women between the ages 15 to 49 are unable to conceive even after a year of trying. But some stories are proof that there is a ray of hope for couples who can not conceive. Courtney Harford–who goes by @shortneyharford on TikTok–shared a heartwarming moment when she surprised her husband, Sam, with a pregnancy announcement that touched millions of hearts.
“After 3.5 years of infertility, being told we’d never be able to conceive a child on our own, it finally happened, against all our doctor’s odds, all by ourselves. We can’t believe it,” Harford wrote in the caption. To capture her husband’s reaction, she had already set up a camera that was recording. When Sam entered the room, she said she had a gift for him. When he asked why, she said, “Because I just want to do something nice for you.” Feeling happy about his wife’s gesture, the husband looked inside the paper bag on the kitchen counter. Taken aback by surprise, Sam kept staring at the positive pregnancy tests that Harford had placed in the bag. For a while, he couldn’t even fathom if it was real. With tearful eyes, he kept on hugging his wife for more than a minute.
Sam, who was overwhelmed with happy tears, had to ensure once again that Harford was serious with this revelation. The wife reassured him that all those pregnancy test kits in the bag indeed came out positive when she tested that day. “Definitely not what I had on my bingo card today,” said Sam. Harford mentioned that she was waiting for Sam to wake up and that she was “freaking out.” “Our families are going to f*****g freak out. They’re going to be shook,” said the husband. “No medicine, no IUIs, no IVF. This is the coolest thing ever. I did not think it was gonna feel like this,” he added. The couple got emotional as they hugged each other and shared a kiss.
