A prominent political analyst, Adakole Ijogi, has recalled how General Sani Abacha (late) established measures to aid Nigerians following the increase in petrol prices during his administration.
Adakole said this on AIT while addressing the consequences of petrol subsidy removal under Tinubu’s administration.
Addressing the topic, Adakole said,
“If you cast your mind back to the military regime of Gen. Sani Abacha (late), who increased the petrol price during his administration When Abacha increased the petrol price, he set up special intervention programs with it. He also set up the PTF, and they had interventions in different sectors of the economy.”
He continued,
“What is currently happening is a bazaar, and it is unfortunate. I heard a presidential spokesperson on national TV say that Nigeria is a poor nation.
I do not understand you coming on national TV to de-market your own country. It is a different issue for someone to say that the country’s finances have been poorly managed.”
