It is common knowledge that the former Ondo State Commissioner of Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, recently claimed that the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu endorsed him as his successor before his passing.
However, in a report by Vanguard, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS) refuted Akinterinwa’s claim. The organization’s Director of Information, Kayode Fasua alleged that it was widely known in Ondo State that Akeredolu intended for Lucky Aiyedatiwa his deputy to succeed him, citing the latter’s loyalty and diligence.
Fasua stated that Akeredolu consistently expressed his endorsement of Aiyedatiwa by raising his deputy’s hand at public events and declaring him the next governor. He also said that members of Akeredolu’s cabinet can confirm this.

“Everywhere Akeredolu went with Aiyedatiwa, he was always raising Aiyedatiwa’s hand as the man to take over as next governor once he finished his second term.
Even commissioners and others who were in Akeredolu’s cabinet can testify to the fact that the late former Governor was always full of praises for Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, during which he would utter the foresee that ‘this is the next governor of Ondo State'”
