Dr. Ogunsola Akintunde, an economic and financial analyst, revealed in an exclusive interview on Arise Television today that he can’t blame those that are selling milk and other foodstuffs for the hike in prices for the things that they sell.
While speaking on the current high cost of living in Nigeria, Akintunde said, “The food inflation index has been rising persistently for more than one year, and the government seems helpless; they are just rolling out statistics that food prices are going up.
“I have always reiterated that if the government does not do anything to the price of diesel, we will continue to see food prices increasing because food items like milk and other items that were mentioned are actually transported on diesel, and we are not producing diesel in Nigeria,” he continued on the above subject.
“So I can’t blame people who sell milk and foodstuffs because they rely on diesel. If the price of diesel is increasing, they can’t have any control.
“We also have a lot of road blockages that incur costs. All these costs are factored into the cost of the product at the end of the day, he concluded.
