A Former Vice President of the NBA, Monday Ubani has expressed concern about Nigerians exploiting the rise in the dollar’s value, attributing price hikes to it.
He illustrated the prevailing situation where even ordinary individuals, like a tomato seller, attribute price increases to the dollar’s fluctuations.
He argued that this is the reason why SAN Femi Falana has gone to ask the court to compel the Federal Government to enforce the existing laws on market price control, He stated further that this is crucial in addressing the apparent economic challenges.
He said in an interview with Channels TV,
”Nigerians are taking advantage of the increase in dollar and when you ask them, they use the benchmark of the dollar.
An ordinary woman that sells tomatoes will tell you dollar is the reason for the price increase.
There is madness in the land. And so Senior Advocate Femi Falana felt that this is the right thing to do.
If there is a law that must be complied with by the government to ensure the control of market prices.”
