According to a report by The Nation on February 8, 2024, President Bola Tinubu has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s prospects in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON), declaring “Awalokan” as he emphasized the country’s readiness to claim the championship title.
“Awalokan,” a Yoruba term signifying “It is our turn,” echoes Tinubu’s belief in Nigeria’s rightful claim to victory in the prestigious tournament.
Tinubu made these remarks during the official launch of 3,112 housing units in the Karsana area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday, February 8.
In a video captured by The Nation, the president conveyed his congratulations to the Super Eagles and Nigerians following their qualification for the AFCON final, achieved by defeating South Africa 4-2 on penalties.
“Congratulations once again everybody on the attainment of victory just last night,”
Tinubu said.
“It was a moment of joy for every one of us, united as a nation, very hopeful that it is our turn for the trophy. Awalokan.”
