Addressing journalists in his palace, the monarch emphasizes the importance for traditional rulers to trust in Almighty God for safeguarding their lives, cautioning against reliance on deities which he believes would undermine the dignity of their thrones
Oba AbduraRasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo said:
“I am telling you right here that no one would dare attempt to kidnap or mark me for assassination.
“I am covered by God’s protection, not any deity or gods. I am using this opportunity to call on my colleague monarchs to stop putting their hopes on deities and return everything to the almighty God whom they represent,”

This proclamation follows recent tragic events, including the assassinations of the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola, as well as the killing of General Segun Aremu (retd), the Koro of Olukoro, with his wife abducted in Kwara State.
