Akothee, a popular Kenyan artist and a businesswoman posted on her Facebook page saying that being a single mother doesn’t grant you an automatic excuse to be lazy or play the victim. A commendable single mother picks herself up and stands strong for her children, no matter the circumstances. She said she gets so frustrated sometimes seeing lazy women wandering around, using the excuse of being left with children.
She added that sometimes she comes across irresponsible mothers labelling themselves as single mothers, and she wishes they would drop that title and call themselves “womb donors” instead for they donated a womb for a child to be conceived. She said it’s sad that some women have abandoned their children to bear the burdens of breakups and dysfunctional families, leaving them with nothing but broken, damaged, and detached children.
She went on to say that as a mother, you should not conceive if you are financially unstable. You should first, secure a job, then consider starting a family for men will hurt you from all directions, especially when you have zero income. She urged women not to conceive a baby without the man’s consent for that man would deny the baby in an instant.
One of her followers commented on the post asking her why she is calling herself a single mother yet Nellyoaks is in her life. Akothee replied by saying that she is a single mother of 5 children but that doesn’t mean she is not having a man in her life.
