A middle-aged man, identified as Tony, has been apprehended by the Bayelsa State Police Command for allegedly beheading his girlfriend, Ebibraaladei Maxwell, in Sagbama Local Government Area. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the Command’s spokesman, Musa Mohammed, Tony was restrained by neighbours as he attempted to flee the scene. Subsequently, he was handed over to the police.
The suspect and the victim were reported to have been living together, although they were not married.
The police confirmed that they have removed Maxwell’s remains and deposited them at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa.
Mohammed stated that the Divisional Police Officer of Sagbama Division dispatched officers to the crime scene upon receiving the report.
According to Daily Post, the suspect is currently being interrogated and will be charged to court soon.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome incident.
