Erik ten Hag has expressed frustration at Man United defensive perfomance despite securing a dramatic 3-2 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers according to Manchester World.
The Red Devils dominated the first half, with Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund putting them in a comfortable lead, before Scott McTominay came off the bench after Wolves’ Pablo Sarabia reduced the deficit.
However, defensive lapses haunted United as Max Kilman and Pedro Neto pounced on mistakes at the back to get the hosts back into the game.
Kobbie Mainoo’s injury-time strike ultimately secured the win for United in a thrilling match.
Reacting to the game, The Dutchman opened up on the positives but criticized the team’s over-commitment in offensive areas while leading.
“To be honest, I had mixed feelings, for a neutral fan, it was great to see, but as a manager, when you dominate a game, you should go 3 or 4-0 by the hour.”
“We want to go too much for another goal instead of keeping the ball and letting the opponent run. We encourage opponents with too much risk”
“We have to hammer out these mistakes; they can’t happen. What is asked is leadership, and it can’t be that you concede such goals,” he said
