Anselme Santos was caught on live TV camera asking for a Senegalese lady’s phone number during an AFCON game between the host nation Ivory Coast and Senegal. The lady seemed hesitant and responded with a vague answer. Senegal, which was the favourite country to win the AFCON, was knocked out by the host country, Ivory Coast. Both of these countries are French colonies and Francophone nations.
The Ivory Coast man has since apologized to his wife and children in a video statement, saying “In the heat of the moment, I asked for her number. It wasn’t meant to be harmful, but she declined, so I didn’t push it. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to my family.”
It seems that this is not the first time he has behaved in this manner and that he would have continued if he had not been caught on camera. His wife must have felt embarrassed to see her husband getting rejected on national television.
