Executive Director at Authority Newspaper, Chuks Akunna, has insisted that the Plateau State Chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is partisan;
as he wondered if some people in the Electoral Body are happy with the crisis in the State.
Chuks Akunna had said,
“Next tomorrow, INEC has said they are holding rerun and by-elections all over Nigeria. As we speak, it’s as if some people in INEC are happy with the crisis in Plateau State, I must say this because, you see, we spent Christmas, people in Plateau spent Christmas mourning the dead, we all remember that;
and from December 24th till date, in fact, from the time that Governor Caleb Mutfwang was announced winner of the election till date, Plateau has not rested for one week.”
Akunna, who spoke during an interview on Kakaaki, an AIT Television programme, said some people from Plateau State called him, and claimed that the Electoral Body mentioned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would not participate in the February 3rd rerun election in some parts of the State, even though the judgement of the Court had mandated that elections be reconducted in those areas.
