President Bola Tinubu has reportedly promised that those responsible for the murders of the two traditional rulers in Ekiti State will face justice, according to news reported by Punch Newspaper.
The monarchs tragically perished after being ambushed on their way home from a security briefing.
Tinubu offered his sympathies to the Ekiti State administration, its citizens, and their families.
The incident occurred when gunmen ambushed the monarchs’ vehicle in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Two of the monarchs lost their lives in the attack, while the third managed to flee the scene. The chairman of the Ajoni Local Council Development Area confirmed the tragic event, stating that the attackers attempted to kidnap the three traditional rulers.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement on behalf of the President, denouncing the senseless act of violence.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that efforts were underway to strengthen the nation’s security infrastructure to prevent such tragedies in the future.
He emphasized that the security of life and property remained a top priority for his administration.
In addition to condemning the killings, Tinubu directed immediate efforts to rescue kidnapped pupils and teachers in Ekiti State.
Gunmen abducted six pupils, three teachers, and a bus driver while they were returning from Eporo-Ekiti.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the affected families and reassured the nation of ongoing efforts to address security challenges.
