Former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, has denied reports that he is interested in taking over Abdullahi Ganduje’s position as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bello dismissed recent publications and posters as the antics of opposition leaders, mischief makers, and fifth columnists who are bent on creating confusion within the party’s hierarchy.He called the insinuation of his party chairmanship ambition through some posters in Abuja “infantile, false, and should be disregarded.” Bello stressed that as the APC is not in the process of conducting congresses or a convention, there is no basis for anyone to circulate posters for the party office. He further stated that he never authorized anyone to circulate any posters on his behalf as he remains a loyal party member who is committed to Ganduje’s leadership.
Similarly, the Kogi State Government has also denied a report on the creation of the office of the immediate past governor. Governor Usman Ododo said in a statement that the report was fake and the handiwork of psychotic mischief makers who have been thrown into confusion by the unprecedented achievements of the former governor. Ododo described the report as laughable and concocted to create disaffection and mislead the public. He thanked the media for exercising restraint and detecting, on their own, that the report was fake. He also urged the general public to fact-check before spreading fake news.
