An alleged drug trafficker escaped arrest by running over an agent of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Femi Babafemi, a spokesperson for the agency, in a statement on Wednesday, said the suspect drove his “luxury car to crush an officer as he attempted to escape arrest when officers were searching his home last weekend.”
The operative, whose identity was not revealed, “suffered multiple injuries throughout his body and a compound fracture in both legs, for which he is currently admitted to a hospital for treatment.”
The agency later launched a search party for the suspect.
Interception
On Friday, August 18, NDLEA officers broke into the suspect’s residence located at 2/3 Adetola Ayeni Close, Lekki area of the state, to conduct a search and possible arrest following credible reports that he was dealing in illicit drugs.

While the anti-narcotics team searched his residence, the suspect, oblivious to his presence, entered his compound.
“In a dramatic twist, as soon as he entered the premises and saw the NDLEA officers, he reversed his car, ran over one of the officers, lowered the gate before crashing the vehicle into the fence of the opposite compound. . ”, reads the statement.
“The force of her car’s speed also brought down the concrete wall of her neighbor’s compound, and from there, she threw herself out of the vehicle to escape.

The agency, during a search of his residence, recovered 10.5 kilograms of Loud.
“Following the unpleasant event, NDLEA President and CEO Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (ret.) has ordered the deployment of appropriate operational resources from the agency to draw the wanted suspect out of hiding from him,” Babafemi said.
“He also approved proper medical care for the injured officer so that he can recover as soon as possible.”
