President Bola Tinubu has relieved the Director General/Executive Director of the National Commission for Identity Management (NIMC), Aliyu Aziz, from her job and ordered her to begin a “90-day pre-retirement leave”.
President Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, who announced the dismissal in a statement, gave no reason, saying only that the pre-retirement leave will lead “to his eventual retirement from service on November 24, 2023.”
Ngelale also announced that the president has appointed a replacement for Aziz.
“The President approves the appointment of Eng. Bisoye Coker-Odusote to serve as acting Director General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for a period of 90 days, beginning August 24, 2023, after of which, he will begin a full four-year term as the substantive Director General/CEO of NIMC, effective November 24, 2023.”
“Furthermore, President Tinubu approved the appointment of the Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub to serve as Director/CEO of the Directorate of the Technical Assistance Corps (DTAC).

“This follows the recent expiration of the term of former DTAC Director/CEO, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi.
“This appointment is effective immediately,” Ngelale wrote in the statement.
