Mason Greenwood ‘wanted by English clubs ahead of Man United exit’

Clubs in England have allegedly shown an interest in signing Mason Greenwood ahead of his departure from Old Trafford.Following a lengthy internal investigation into allegations against the 21-year-old, Man United announced on Monday that he would be leaving the club to restart his career elsewhere.Greenwood was suspended by the Red Devils until further notice in January 2022 following his arrest on suspicion of rape and assault, having been named in online accusations posted by a woman.The one-cap England international was further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill, before being charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.

Ligue 1 club Rennes have reportedly shortlisted Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof as a possible defensive target.The Sweden international remains below Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the defensive pecking order at Old Trafford and will seemingly struggle for Premier League minutes this season.Furthermore, Lindelof is now in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, although the club do possess an option to extend his stay for another 12 months.Nevertheless, a summer exit has unsurprisingly been mooted considering his lack of starts last term, as he featured from the first whistle just 14 times in the Premier League, nine of which came while Martinez and Varane were recovering from injury.

West Ham United have completed the signing of centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos from Bundesliga club Stuttgart.The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract until June 2028 and joins the Hammers for a undisclosed fee believed to be an initial £17m plus £2m in add-ons.Mavropanos, nicknamed ‘Dinos’ by his friends, family and temamates, becomes David Moyes’s third signing of the summer transfer window after midfield duo Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, who both made their debuts in the 3-1 Premier League win over Chelsea on Sunday.The 6ft 4in defender departs Stuttgart after three years with the German club, including the first two years on loan from North Londoners Arsenal, where he made only eight senior appearances between 2018 and 2020.

Manchester United are reportedly conducting medical tests on Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir after stepping up their interest in the 25-year-old.Bayindir is thought to be on Erik ten Hag’s shortlist of replacements for Dean Henderson, who is in talks over a permanent move to Crystal Palace.The Turkey international has been Fenerbahce’s number one shot-stopper since leaving Ankaragucu in 2019, amassing 44 clean sheets in 145 matches for the club.Bayindir – who stands at 6ft 6in tall – helped Fenerbahce win the Turkish Cup in the 2022-23 season, while he has earned five caps for his national team and was called up to their Euro 2020 squad.

Manchester City will reportedly not be signing West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta during the summer transfer window.Earlier this month, it emerged that the Premier League champions were interested in adding the Brazil international to their squad.Pep Guardiola has lost the creativity of Ilkay Gundogan this summer, while Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out until the end of the year after hamstring surgery.As a result, Paqueta has been earmarked as a priority alternative, the 25-year-old known to be interested in making the switch to the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly not spoken to Romelu Lukaku this summer.Earlier in the summer, Pochettino suggested at a press conference that he would speak with the forward upon his return to the club’s training ground.At one stage, it appeared that such an occurrence would not be required with the Belgium international attracting interest from Italy and Saudi Arabia.However, Inter Milan have withdrawn from the race, Juventus cannot currently afford the 30-year-old and talks have not progressed with any teams in the Middle East.

“I heard I think on Monday or Tuesday last week that Burnley was interested in me,” centre-back Delcroix told the club’s official website.
“It went really quick. I had a phone call with [Vincent Kompany] and Saturday I was already on the plane. So, it went very quick. It was a very busy few days, but I am happy to be here now.
“It’s a different competition, the Premier League. Everybody knows it. It’s the best competition in the world at the moment. For me, it’s a big opportunity to come here and it’s a great team. It was not difficult to come here when I got the option.”
Arsenal ‘have no intention of selling Gabriel Magalhaes’

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly closing in on the signing of Lille midfielder Carlos Baleba.The 19-year-old has emerged as the Seagulls’ top target to replace Moises Caicedo, who was sold to Chelsea for a British-record £115m last week.Head coach Roberto De Zerbi revealed last week that Brighton are working to sign a replacement for Caicedo before the summer transfer window closes and that “many midfielders” are on their radar.Brighton came forward with an opening offer of €16m (£13.8m) including add-ons for Baleba earlier this month, but that bid was rejected by Lille as they value the teenager closer to €30m (£25m).
