Dr. Umar Ardo, a former special adviser to Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have already abandoned the former vice president. Ardo made this statement over the weekend in relation to Atiku’s political future. According to him, Atiku’s press conference last Monday concerning the Supreme Court’s judgment and his stance towards President Bola Tinubu’s presidency, as well as the PDP Governors’ Forum’s communique the following day after their meeting at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge, clearly indicates that the relationship between Atiku and the PDP Governors has ended.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the chairman of the forum, praised the leadership qualities of President Tinubu in a separate address to the press following the communique and reiterated the readiness of PDP governors to collaborate, support, and work with the federal government he leads. Ardo argues that with these conflicting views, it is only a matter of time before an inevitable implosion occurs, resulting in Atiku stepping down from his presidential ambitions, or leaving the PDP, or being expelled from the party.
