Nabena, a former spokesperson of the APC, condemned Gumi’s attack on Wike and urged security agencies to invite the controversial Islamic cleric for questioning. He called on the presidency to make a bold statement and reaffirm the right of any Nigerian to hold public office anywhere in the country.
Nabena cautioned against “reckless public comments” that could lead to a more divided country. He also stated that the people of Niger Delta and Southerners in general will no longer tolerate attacks on their political or religious beliefs. Nabena called on security agencies to take Gumi’s reckless but deliberate statement seriously and to arrest, question, and prosecute him. Finally, he warned that the Niger Delta sons and daughters will hold Sheikh Gumi responsible if any evil befalls Nyesom Wike throughout his days in office as FCT Minister.
