Former first lady Patience Jonathan on Wednesday paid what she called “a solidarity visit” to Oluremi Tinubu, the incumbent first lady, at the State House, Abuja.
Ms. Jonathan, during the visit, thanked Ms. Tinubu for how she has impacted the lives of Nigerian women so far.
She said it is imperative for her, as the wife of a former president, to support and encourage Ms. Tinubu in things that would move the nation forward.
Ms. Jonathan praised the women’s groups for their support of President Bola Tinubu and his wife and advocated that they should maintain their support for the government to sustain the patriotic efforts made so far by the government.
“You are one of the women I waited for because you can make Nigerian women proud; I am here to encourage and support you because we are one country and our country must move on.
“Twenty-four hours, I am with you; call me at any time, any day; I will work with you to move the country forward and be better because it is our country (and) we have nowhere else to go.
“When we talk about the presidency, we have come and gone; it’s your turn. We on the left must support them to achieve what they are here for, as we have done so Nigeria can move forward.
“I take this opportunity to plead with the women of this country to support this government; she took us when she was a governor’s wife, and now that she’s first lady, the sky’s her limit.

Ms Tinubu had previously praised Ms Jonathan for her support and advice.
“We thank God that she is here on a solidarity visit and that we can talk about how to move the nation forward. I appreciate her visit, her support and all the advice that she is always giving, ”said the first lady.
Ms. Jonathan was the first lady of Nigeria between 2010 and 2015 when her husband, Goodluck Jonathan, was president.
