President Bola Tinubu expressed his sadness in Abuja on Tuesday over the loss of brave officers and soldiers in Monday’s helicopter crash in Niger state.
Nigerian Air Force helicopter on casualty evacuation mission crashed around 11 p.m.
The accident in which the officers and men were killed occurred in Chukuba Village, near Shiroro.
“These officers and men were responding to the call of duty during an evacuation mission.
“In their dedicated service to our beloved country, they paid the ultimate price.
“As we mourn their premature departure, we will always remember them, not just as soldiers, but as heroes who gave everything for the peace and security of our country.
“They will always be remembered as brave men who ensured that their countrymen and countrymen lived in peace,” the president said.
Mr. Tinubu praised the deceased’s sacrifices, devotion and loyalty to the nation, saying “it is the nation that they loved and served to the end.
“I extend my condolences to their families and to all the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The president also prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
