According to reports, President Joe Biden’s German shepherd dog has been relocated from the White House due to incidents of biting several US Secret Service and White House staff. On October 5th, a statement was released stating that the President and his wife, Jill, sent the two-year-old German shepherd to an undisclosed location while they evaluated their options for the safety of the dog and those around him.
In a statement, Elizabeth Alexander, the communications director for Jill Biden, expressed her concern for the safety of White House workers and those who protect them. She conveyed the gratitude of the President and First Lady for the patience and support of the US Secret Service and all involved, while they work to find solutions. Currently, the Commander is not on the White House campus, as further steps are being evaluated.
According to reports from CNN and Axios, the Bidens’ dog, Commander, has been involved in more biting incidents than previously known. The Bidens attribute their pets’ behavior to the stressful environment of the White House.
Commander’s last known sighting was on September 30th on the Truman Balcony of the president’s private quarters. Major, a German shepherd and the Bidens’ first dog, was also sent away from the White House for biting and now resides with family friends in Delaware.
