The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, says her husband, President Bola Tinubu, is not a magician but he is working to fix the country.
Mrs Tinubu stated this on Sunday in Abuja during her address at the interdenominational church service to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, with the theme: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
He said the Tinubu administration inherited the situation on the ground but is willing to fix things without blaming any administration.
“The only thing we inherit are things that happened many years ago; We are not here to blame any administration, but to fix what has been damaged.
“My husband is not a magician; He goes to work and I believe and hope that we have peace in this country; The best is yet to come,” he stated.
She reiterated her husband’s determination to fix everything that had been damaged in the country.
“Good government can only have an impact if the people follow the example of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who embodied the fruit of the spirit, including love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, faith, meekness, temperance, and forgiveness.
“A Nigeria of abundance has begun, and to be part of the greatness that God has ushered in the nation, Nigerians must look beyond their current realities and embrace hope again,” he said.
Mrs Tinubu also called on Nigerians to celebrate the unity that defines the diversity of the nation.
“There is no challenge, obstacle, or difficulty that we cannot overcome or overcome if we imbibe the nature of Christ who said in Matthew 11:28 ‘Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ ‘.
“In times like these, all we do is keep our hope alive, the living hope that Jesus Christ has given birth to in us,” he said.
The first lady also assured Nigerians that her husband had undertaken broader consultations with the international community and investors to reposition the country.
Earlier, the president of the Nigerian Baptist ConventionIsrael Akanji, who was the guest preacher, assured Nigerians that they have overcome the many challenges facing the country.
While thanking Tinubu for his address to the nation on the independence anniversary, the cleric, however, appealed to him and other branches of government to ensure the fulfillment of the promises made to Nigerians.
He prayed that God would change the situation in Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, appealed to Nigerians to be patient.
Akume said measures were being put in place to cushion the plight of Nigerians, adding that some of the problems plaguing the country cannot be urgently resolved as they had hoped.
