Gunmen have killed a member of a local vigilante group during an attack on Rachas Village in Heipang District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victim, Divine Dung Davou, was on duty keeping watch over the community when the attack happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, BYM, confirmed the killing.
He described Davou as a member of the local security group.
In a statement, Tengwong said the death has left the victim’s family and the wider community in grief.
He also raised concern about rural communities being repeatedly attacked.
He called on the Plateau State Police Command and other security agencies to investigate the killing and bring those responsible to justice.
